Steve GalasSteve Harris grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona where he was a three-sport athlete at Saguaro High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Seattle Pacific University in 1980, and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University in 2002. He obtained his Principal Certificate from Northern Arizona University in 2011. Steve began his career in education in Seattle before returning home to Scottsdale where he was a teacher, coach, athletic director and assistant principal in the Scottsdale Unified School District. During his tenure there, he coached football, basketball, track and field, and badminton. He was Desert Mountain High School’s first Athletic Director, serving in that capacity for 18 years. During that time the Wolves won 16 State Titles, as well as the AIA’s Overall Excellence Award in 2006. Steve spent the last three years of his career at Mountain View High School (in Mesa) where he served as an assistant principal and athletic director. During his years as an athletic director, Steve was a member of the AIA 5A Executive Committee from 2007-2011. He was an AIA Tennis Representative for the 5A Conference from 2007-2010, and on the Tennis Advisory Committee from 2010-2013. He also served on the Badminton Advisory Committee from 2010-1016.
